New Study Impacting the Music Industry Released - The Sound of Support: Exploring the Music Community's Caregiver Needs

An important call to action study has been released that focuses on the needs of caregivers in the Canadian music industry.  “Sound of Support: Exploring the Music Community’s Caregiver Needs” was prepared by consultant, Diane Davy, and released by Women in Music Canada and Music Publishers Canada.  It was made possible with the support Ontario Creates, Creative BC, and the Province of British Columbia. The study sheds light on barriers faced by caregivers, discusses supports and resources, and offers strategies for those in the music industry concurrently managing both professional and personal caregiving responsibilities.

Canadian CREATE delegation takes part in European Film Market and film-centred activities in Berlin

From February 11 to 18, 2026, MPC travelled to Berlin, Germany with a delegation of Canadian music publishers and screen composers for the European Film Market at Berlinale and the JETS initiative (Junior Entertainment Talent Slate) as part of the CREATE Berlin trade mission. The delegation consisted of eight music publishers and four composers.

Music Publishers Canada (MPC) and a delegation of Canadian music publishers attended the IMPF Global Music Summit hosted by the Independent Music Publishers International Forum (IMPF) in Palma, Mallorca from October 7-10, 2025. In its fourth year, the Summit attracted a record number of delegates (650) from the global music publishing community.

Music Publishers Canada (MPC) was pleased to partner with PopArabia to organize an in-person song camp and b2b mission in Abu Dhabi from November 29 to December 3, 2024. CREATE in Abu Dhabi brought together Canadian songwriters and producers, with an impressive list of creators from the MENA region and Europe. At the same time, a delegation of Canadian music industry professionals participated in a curated set of b2b meetings.
