Canadian CREATE delegation takes part in European Film Market and film-centred activities in Berlin
From February 11 to 18, 2026, MPC travelled to Berlin, Germany with a delegation of Canadian music publishers and screen composers for the European Film Market at Berlinale and the JETS initiative (Junior Entertainment Talent Slate) as part of the CREATE Berlin trade mission. The delegation consisted of eight music publishers and four composers.
Delegates participated in a Berlin version of MPC's popular Meet The Music Supervisors event which was hosted together with the Association des professionnels de l’édition musicale (APEM) at the Canadian Embassy in Berlin. Twenty-one German and Italian music supervisors from film, television, and advertising outlined how the German market functions and explained the projects that they are working on. The delegation then participated in 1:1 pitch sessions with the individual music supervisors. In total, publishers and music supervisors had 135 b2b meetings. After the meetings, our delegation was joined by the Screen Composers Guild (SCGC) and the German music publisher Association, Verband Deutscher Musikverlage (DMV) for a networking mixer.
During their time in Berlin, the publisher delegation also toured the EFM floor, participated in networking events hosted by Ontario Creates and Telefilm Canada, and took individual meetings with film industry delegates.
Following the publisher programming, the screen composers traveling with MPC – Women in the Studio alumnae Alexandra Petkovski, La-Nai Gabriel, and Steph Copeland and Cris Derksen – participated in the JETS Initiative which took place over February 17 and 18. During these two days, the composers pitched their work to filmmakers, international funders, and industry experts from Germany, Ireland, the UK, Australia, and Canada. They also met with funders and jury members and participated in 1:1 and group networking sessions with filmmakers participating in the initiative. Congratulations to Alex and Cris on their awards.
Thank you to FACTOR and the Government of Canada, the Embassy of Canada to Germany and Claudia Seeber, and the Trade Commissioner Service, for their support of CREATE Berlin. We would also like to thank SOCAN for sponsoring the Opening Night Mixer.
