The Summit has become an essential conference for independent music publishers, songwriters, and industry stakeholders, fostering business development for Canadian companies seeking strategic partnerships, sub-publishing and administration deals, music catalogue deals, acquisitions, and international creative collaborations for their songwriters. MPC member Vincent Degiorgio of Cymba Music, participated in a panel focused on emerging markets and he shared his expertise on developing Canadian songwriters in export territories such as Japan. This year’s conference featured a sync-themed Day day with music supervisors from the US, Sweden, and UK and a creative keynote from IMPF President (Managing Director and Global Strategist for Reservoir Media), Annette Barrett. Both peermusic and Reservoir are members of MPC.
During the Summit, IMPF also hosted a song camp, which ran from October 6-9. MPC’s Women in the Studio producers Taraneh Krispil (published by Third Side Music) and Ramona Vee (published by Red Brick Songs) were selected for this highly competitive camp with writers, artists, and producers from around the world. This type of creative initiative helps SME members expand their trade and growth opportunities for their small grow their businesses.
MPC would like to thank Global Affairs and the Government of Canada for their support. Events like Palma Summit bring the world's independent publishing community together, playing a pivotal role in facilitating sub-publishing and administration deals across international markets.
