Music Publishers Canada members know first-hand the importance of the global market and ensuring Canadians and Canadian companies are equipped to thrive in a competitive economic landscape. It is notable that 82% of the revenues of Canadian-owned independent companies are from foreign sources. This represents a complete reversal of the ratio of domestic to foreign sources from what was found in a 2005 study of the industry, in which 28% of revenue was from foreign sources.

CREATE is a dual-purpose music publishing export initiative that connects music publishers, and the songwriters they invest in, with key business and creative contacts in global markets. Over the past few years, MPC has also developed CREATE export training missions focusing on training NXTGen members and the graduates of the Women in the Studio Accelerator.

As shown in our Export Ready, Export Critical study, export is driving growth for Canadian music publishers, and is increasingly necessary to remain competitive globally. Through export, we can also ensure that Canadian songs continue to be heard around the world.

In 2025 and 2026, we are planning trade missions to Amsterdam Dance Event, London and Berlin.

Previously, we have run CREATE missions to Abu Dhabi, Australia, Berlin, Denmark, Mexico, United States (Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and New York), and the UK.
